A leading conceptual performance artist, Vanessa Beecroft has exhibited at major galleries throughout the world, including London, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Milan, Paris, Seoul, Miami, Chicago and the Venice Biennale.
She creates large-scale tableaux vivant of naked women. Her work is described as challenging, evocative, beautiful and empowering.
Since 1993, her work was presented in silence, with no background music, but in 2009, the silence was broken by Kanye West at the Ace Gallery in L.A. Now, the work is presented – for the first time – with sound integrated.
I collaborated with Vanessa at the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt on November 24. I performed music live as a brave and daring part of Beecroft’s work.
If you weren’t in Frankfurt, don’t worry… it was filmed. The artwork was also thoroughly documented for Wallpaper magazine, including a photo shoot in which I got to wear Summer 2011 Gucci and a pair of awesome Louboutin shoes.
The film of this work will be released in Spring 2011, entitled VB68.
